The srt zeptoring® System is a very extensive and far-reaching therapy with which one can achieve health successes in many different areas of indication.
This procedure uses the latest scientific knowledge in the field of stochastic resonance.

How the srt zeptoring® works

The srt zeptoring® is based on one of the most important functions of the human nervous system: Thanks to numerous receptors (sensors) in the muscles, tendons, skin, joints, etc., people are able to determine in which position their body or individual parts of their body are located, ie whether they are standing or sitting or whether and how they move. The receptors always report the same thing, e.g. if the body does not move or moves uniformly, these messages (information) are of no interest to the brain. However, if constantly changing, new messages are generated, the brain is activated. At the same time, it is trained to process this new information as quickly and as efficiently as possible. In contrast to conventional vibration devices with sinusoidal oscillations, stochastic resonance therapy sets stimuli according to the random principle. The two step plates move three-dimensionally independently of each other. In addition, the basic movement of the step plates is overlaid by another irregular signal and is therefore unpredictable every time. This has a positive effect on the interaction between receptors, nerves and muscles.

  • The stochastic (irregular) signal is above the neural stimulus threshold
  • Habituation effects are prevented
  • “Resonance disasters” are avoided

Therapy process

During a srt zeptoring® training you stand on the two footplates. These move differently and in all dimensions (forwards / backwards, right / left, upwards / downwards). As a result, the patient is constantly unbalanced. The disturbance of the equilibrium is stochastic and randomized. Randomized means that the basic movement (basic frequency) of the two surfaces is constantly changing within certain limits and that this basic movement cannot be foreseen. The basic frequency and the vibration strength (level, trim) can be set on the SRT Zeptor® Medical plus noise. Stochastic means that this basic frequency is superimposed by additional interference (noise). The patient learns to react effectively to these disturbances, so he can then also perform movements in everyday life better because his ability to react is improved.

Effects of the srt zeptoring®

Fast and efficient information processing

Every second our brain receives between 100 billion and 1 trillion information units from our receptors. We feel, hear, see, smell, etc. Our various receptors (sensors) continuously report in which position in the room our body is, whether it is warm or cold, light or dark, etc. However, we can only consciously process a very small part of this information. In order to be able to move safely and successfully, it is therefore imperative to make a selection of which information is currently important, i.e. has to be processed, and which information is currently not important.

The more frequently it is confronted with different situations, the greater the ability of our brain to make good preselections. Through the stochastic randomized training (SRT), the quickly successive “unbalancing”, new situations / requirements are constantly being built up. The brain is trained to make a good selection and to react quickly and correctly.

Release of neurotransmitters

In order for a movement to be carried out, our brain has to pass on information or commands to our muscles. Conversely, information about how a movement was carried out travels back to the brain via the receptors.

In the brain, evaluation and storage take place through the release of neurotransmitters (messenger substances). The neurotransmitter dopamine is of crucial importance. The brain reacts to new requirements / situations by releasing dopamine. As a result, certain areas of the brain – i. e. the so-called supplementary motor area – are prepared to process this new situation as optimally as possible. So dopamine works like an activator or starter.

The stochastic, randomized stimuli of the srt zeptoring®  are constantly creating new situations and the brain is enabled to react optimally to subsequent requirements and tasks.
Especially in diseases that are characterized by a disorder of dopamine release and reduced activity in the supplementary motor area, such as Parkinson’s disease or depression, this type of stochastic randomized stimulus setting is very successful.

Reactivation and protection of nerve and muscle cells

In order to train our muscles, they have to be stimulated accordingly by nerve cells. If these stimuli are absent, the muscles recede. A nerve cell also needs regular activation in order to survive and to network with other nerve cells. If a nerve cell is not stimulated for a longer period of time, it dies. Numerous patients are unable to voluntarily activate the nerve cells and thus the leg muscles due to illness or as a result of an accident. Without stimulation, the neural network responsible for activating the leg muscles degenerates.

srt zeptoring®  uses a trick here: The fast stochastic, randomized movements of the standing surfaces of the training device (SRT Zeptor® Medical plus noise) represent intense stimuli for various receptors. This immediately leads to involuntary muscular activations, counteracts muscle regression and improves their arbitrary activation. On the other hand, so-called neurotrophic factors are released. These substances “feed” the nerve cells, provide neural connections and protect the nerves from degeneration, which among other things, is very important for Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis or dementia.
Neurotrophic factors are extremely sensitive to the type of stimulus. The greatest release results from stochastically randomized stimuli with a basic frequency in the theta frequency range, i.e. 3.5 to 7.5 Hz.
The SRT Zeptor® Medical plus noise provides precisely this stimulus configuration.

Exercising rhythm givers in the spinal cord

Although our walking appears simple, the associated control processes are very complex. In order not to stress our brain too much while walking, an important part of our ability to walk is transferred to the spinal cord. An association of nerve cells, the so-called central pattern generator (CPG), ensures that the leg muscles are activated rhythmically and alternately, largely independently of the brain.
This activation pattern is very important for walking.

The srt zeptoring®  activates this nerve cell association and thus promotes our ability to walk. This is especially important for patients in whom the connection between the brain and leg muscles is disturbed, such as in
Stroke patients or those with spinal lesions.

Regular therapy with srt zeptoring® improves:

  • the ability to walk through the activation of spinal rhythm generators
  • the reflex control through increased tension of the muscles
  • bone metabolism and bone strength
  • the release of neurotransmitters, especially dopamine
  • motor learning by optimizing information selection
  • the functioning and growth of neuronal cell networks
  • the sequence of movements through stimulation of the cerebellum
